Heat Wave 04:35
you said I swept you off your feet but it mighta been the heat I know I felt replete as we lay on tangled sheets In a heat wave smoke haze you said it felt just like a dream then you kept showing up on my screen I let it mean to much to me gave it weight you couldn't keep out of phase summer daze it had been to long for me all my senses atrophied when you walked right through my walls I got ready to take the fall underwater shooting stars I guess you didn’t see the impending intensity of getting close to one like me I don’t know how else to be warm rivers midnight shivers I don’t want to pretend I don’t want you but you don’t want me to feel tied to you time gets heavy when things get messy I move slowly I’m not ready to close the door cut the cord you said I swept you off your feet but it mighta been the heat

Addicted 03:39
I stole your lighter the last time you came to me you were charming my mother and I couldn't deal so I hid behind my house and I smoked your tobacco a habit I'd given up more than five years ago now I carry that lighter and smoke when I think of you alone in my tiny world feeling so blue you smashed your head the last time you came in me you were drunk maybe stoned and trying to feel free your addicted to the sensory and your own intensity like a moth to a flame you saw in me the same but I was already attaching to the stains on my sheets laughing and crying you know it's the same release you couldn't look at me the last time I saw you you were out with your mother and you couldn't deal so I went outside and I lit another cigarette and composed a dozen letters to you in my head I knew if I asked them that you wouldn't answer alone in your tiny world feeling so free you came on so strong when I caught up you were gone you can't hold it you don't want it it's not that your not worth it or that I think you don't deserve it you just don't want it you can't hold it just admit babe you don't want it you can't hold it

Lean In 04:00
Who are you to talk so pretty About all the ways you’ve been a lover Then turn around and tell me You’ve got no room for any other Who are you to shine so bright And hide the coming storm All the shadows in your light Waiting to take form Who are you to give so freely Of something that I hold so close And just as I begin to loosen my grip You cut my loose Who are you to so dismantle My carefully constructed cage In which I need no other others love or rage Who are you? Who are you? Who are you to walk so calmly Along your chosen path And leave me scrambling for my footing In the rubble of truths aftermath Who am I to play with fire In a world that’s burning up Who am I to be ashamed Of reaching for the sun Who are you I wanted to know How fare we could go Who are you How far we could go

about

In the early spring of 2022, I found myself with a glut of new material, and wanted to catch it while it was fresh.
Over a couple days, we filmed and recorded a few tracks at Studio 44 on S'KTAK (Mayne Island).
With an album to follow in the next year (hopefully), these recordings will stand testament to the rough, raw, and a bit ragged roots of these songs.

about

meg iredale Mayne Island, British Columbia

Meg Iredale's solo project is raw and gritty. Like the guitar she built on the back of her truck from salvaged yellow cedar, these songs came into being in a natural way. Her boldly honest lyrics, paired with a playing style and sound that moves like water over sand, Iredale is writing from the gut, and you're going to feel it. ... more
